First: Open the Thermal Insulation Cover
First, unfasten the two retaining clips securing the thermal insulation cover. Lift the red and black insulating caps covering the positive and negative terminals, and then locate the fastening nut on the negative battery terminal.
Next: Disconnect the Negative Terminal
Next, use a wrench to loosen and remove the fastening nut on the negative terminal. Then, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the clamping block. At this point, simply pull the negative terminal connector straight off.
Then: Disconnect the Positive Terminal
Next, proceed to the step of disconnecting the positive terminal connector; the procedure is essentially identical to that used for the negative terminal.
Finally: Remove the Battery
Finally, loosen and remove the nut securing the battery hold-down strap. Release the strap, and then lift the car battery directly out of its compartment.
Battery Installation Sequence
To install the car battery, simply reverse the steps outlined above. However, during installation, it is crucial to strictly follow the sequence of "positive terminal first, then negative terminal" (the exact opposite of the removal sequence). Why is this important? Because once the negative terminal is connected, it effectively completes the electrical circuit for the vehicle. If the positive terminal were to be connected last-and you were using a wrench (which is conductive) to tighten the fastening nut-accidentally making contact with the vehicle's metal chassis would effectively create a direct short circuit between the battery's positive and negative terminals. This not only risks short-circuiting the car battery but, in severe cases, can also generate dangerous sparks.
